Every since we've moved up here I have learned SO much.
Earlier in 2013 my Grandma bought me a beginners spinning wheel. And know I am spinning milk protein, Romny, Satin Angora, Alpaca and Lama.
And man is it ever fun :o)
The picture is some Jacob sheep wool that we bought on Etsy.
Here is some wool I spun up last month (December). 50% Black Shetland 40% Colored Silk and 10% White Tinsel. Here is some wool I spun, I don't know right off hand what kind of wool this was, but I will soon right down here what kind of wool this is. This is a scarf that I entered in this years (2016) fair also. It is called "Sherbet". It is 70% Merino and 20% Tussan Silk. Here is some Dyed Lester that I spun and entered in this years (2016) fair. Lester Longwool and Lincoln are very famouse breeds of sheep, though they produce very course wool. It would be great wool for outer wear, but unless mixed with a very soft wool, it is too course to wear against the skin. One resign the Long wools are so famous is because it takes dye so well. < This is a mix that my Mom bought my (for Christmas) it's called Twinkle Twinkle. It's Merino X Bamboo. This is 4 ounces of wool called "Lynx". It's part of the constellation Range series. The Constellation Range mix is 70% Merino and 30% Tussan Silk. I have spun 10 ounces (different colors) of this series and I LOVE it!!! This spun up Lynx will be my future shawl. :o) I have a scarf from this series on my Etsy shop and will have another one here soon! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I dyed this with kool-aid. colors: blue, grape and strawberry. It is excellent when mixed with ether "Green Flash" cultivated silk, or white tencel. I will sell this color here soon on my etsy shop and here. There is more pictures of this mixed wool below in the slide-show. |
