We finally have sheep!!
Our hope is to raise hardy, somewhat meaty and soft wool producing sheep.
We want to start with a small herd. We want a Merino, Romney and a Teeswater.
We bought a Merino Rambouillet ewe and her daughter who is a Merino/Rambouillet/Dorset (I think).
They are a nice fine wool sheep, along with being smart.
We also have a Black Romny ram. We bought him down in Moscow ID. His wool is long, soft, good crimp and good luster.
Sheep can pay for them selves with being out in pasture so you hardly have to feed them (but if they need more food, obviously) and you can sell there lambs for meat along with wool, and selling there wool (processed, dyed, or spun).
It will be fun and a learning experience!!
And I have info down below about the sheep we have and will hopefully have! I hope you learn along with us!! Like a friend said "if you don't share what you know, it will go with you", very wise words!
Here is Snowman and her lamb, Frost. (Snowman is in the back).
We bought both of them from a professional sheerer who knows her stuff!
We just got them yesterday (7/17/16).
Snowman's wool grades a type 1 medium wool.
There wool is very soft, has lots of crimp and good lanolin.
We hope to look at some Targhee sheep that are just down town!
It's going to be fun!!!
No more buying sheep wool!!!!!!!!!

Here is Prince Ramy. He is the most LOVABLE sheep anyone could ask for.

With the Romney sheep, along with being a nice meaty sheep, there wool is very good for socks and with being mixed with anything (and it holds together, it don't stretch).
So here is some info on them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romney_sheep

Here is some info about the Teeswater sheep: http://www.teeswatersheep.org/sheep.php
As I find websites, vidoes and such, I will try to put it up here for you all to see :o)
